The Drake <> Juno integration works by entering the data that Juno has extracted directly into Drake. You will see the automation on your computer run live, making clicks with your mouse and typing with your keyboard.

To ensure the process is smooth, there are a few things that are important to understand and set up before running an export.

Important Note for Free Trial Users:

Prior to exporting to your Drake instance, you'll need to complete your free trial period. During your customer onboarding meeting, a member of our team will:

Running the Drake Export

Click here for a video explanation of the steps below.

Before exporting data to a client in Drake, you first need to launch the Drake application and open the tax return that the data should be imported into. Your Drake app should look similar to this:

Important Note: Ensure that the return window size looks like the below and not full screen. All portions of the screen must be on screen.

After the return is open in Drake, open the Juno application in the same window as your Drake instance and select the client you want to export. After selecting the client you'll see the below screen.

By clicking "Scan for existing documents" Juno will begin scanning your client's return in Drake. Please do not touch your mouse or keyboard while Juno performs this scan. The scan is incredibly important for avoiding duplicate information in Drake, especially in situations where continuity matters such as returning clients, pro-forma returns, and prior year carryovers. If this is a completely new client or one without carryover data, you are able to skip this step by clicking "Skip for now".

Once the scan is complete you will return to the Juno Integration App, where the screen will have updated. For each document you can now click the dropdown in the "Action" column.

Within this column you'll see a few options:

  • Add - This will create a new form in Drake and input the validated data into it.

  • Skip - This will skip the document when you export.

  • Index - This will direct Juno to navigate to the specified document and input the validated data there.

Important Notes: Add is selected by default. Depending on the client data in Drake, there may be multiple options to index a form to. Please review this step carefully.

Once all forms are configured you are ready to export. Click "Export to Drake" and let Juno enter your data for you! Be sure not to type, move your mouse, or do anything on your computer during this time. Juno is very quick, typing in an average of 15 forms every 3 minutes.

Once the export is complete the Juno application will indicate that the export is complete. You can now view all the imported data in Drake.

Preparation Checklist

Now that Juno has exported the majority of data to your Drake instance, you can use the Preparation Checklist to make sure all additional fields that Juno does not export to Drake get added. Click here to learn more about how to use the Preparation Checklist.
