This article walks you through how to connect Xero to Juno and fetch your financial documents as part of the business return preparation flow.

Step 1: Navigate to the Upload Screen

In the Juno web app, open your business return and navigate to the Upload screen. You will see a Fetch from Bookkeeping Software section with options for both QuickBooks and Xero.

Click Fetch Documents under the Xero connection.

Step 2: Log In to Xero

You will be prompted to enter your Xero username and credentials. Once you log in, one of two things will happen:

  • If your account has a single company, Xero will authenticate and return you to the application automatically.

  • If your account includes multiple organizations, Xero will prompt you to authorize which companies are permitted to connect. Review the list, confirm the companies you want to authorize, and click Allow Access. You will then be returned to Juno.

Step 3: Select the Company to Use

After authentication, Juno will display a list of the company clients available under your Xero account. You will need to select which company corresponds to the return you are preparing.

Juno will suggest a recommended match based on your previous activity to help you select the right company. Confirm the selection or choose a different company from the list if needed.

This selection step is required due to how Xero presents its client list after authentication.

Step 4: Fetch Your Documents

Once you have selected the correct company, click Fetch Documents. Juno will query Xero and pull the following two documents:

  • Profit & Loss

  • Balance Sheet

The content pulled from Xero is driven by your return settings — specifically your end of tax period and accounting basis.

Step 5: Continue to Processing

Once your documents have been fetched, you have two options:

  • If you have additional documents to include, upload them manually before proceeding.

  • When you are ready, click Continue.

Your documents will be queued for processing. Once processing is complete, you will be ready to review your data and proceed with the return.
